Discussion
Rai (Philippine name Odette) is located 509 km south-southwest of Hong Kong, and has moved northeastward at 24 km/h (13 knots) over the past 6 hours. Rai will continue to rapidly decay as it drifts northeastward in the South China Sea due to the aforementioned highly unfavorable environment, leading to dissipation in 24 hours. Forecast guidance are in tight agreement, lending high confidence to the JTWC track forecast. Maximum significant wave height is 4.9 meters (ca. 16 ft feet).
